In 2014 an art buddy of mine here in Springfield MO did a sketch a day, which I decided I'd never do because I have too many projects going as it is. Then I hit a slump last fall where my love of drawing greatly diminished. So I reconsidered the sketch a day and decided to up the ante by using it to pursue another life long dream (or dream since Revised edition came out) to create an entire set of cards for Magic The Gathering. So I am not only creating an original watercolor everyday but coming up with game mechanics to accompany it.
So far so good. I have completed a card every day though I barely squeaked in one a few days ago not posting it until 11:59 PM
My personal collection of cards is mostly older cards so I will be fighting power creep with this set mostly by creating a lot of cards that have a double edge.
Another thing I'm doing to make the set cohesive is to start the week with one card and build cards for the rest of the week around it. Some will be created to create synergy while others will be used to keep it in check. The first (partial, because the year started on a Thursday) week was Resolution which grants life for multicolor decks. The second week is being built around Wolfsbane Glade which creates mana for every poison counter you have.
These are the results so far
